Yes. Helotes sits on the northwestern edge of Bexar County where the ground starts to rise, and we work it regularly. Native oak and juniper cover is heavy, so clearing, hazard removal and structural trimming are all common. Free estimates and crews on call around the clock.
When a tree in Helotes needs to come down or be brought back under control, 3 Monkeys Tree Service does the removal, the trimming, the stump and the cleanup. Locally owned, rated 4.9 across 544 Google reviews, available twenty four hours. Call (210) 253-7777 and we will price it in person for free.
Helotes is an incorporated city on the northwestern edge of Bexar County, sitting where the flats give way to the Balcones Escarpment. Native cover here is heavy, mostly live oak and Ashe juniper, and the ground is often thin over limestone. A shallow root plate in thin soil behaves differently in a windstorm than a deep rooted tree does, which is one of the things we look at during an estimate. Helotes governs its own tree rules, so confirm with the city before removing.
Shallow rooting in thin ground also limits what a tree can draw on during a dry year, which is part of why drought stress shows up so sharply in this region. It is the same constraint viewed from the other side: less soil means less water storage and less anchorage.
Cedar clearing means different things to different people, so it is worth agreeing on the scope before anyone starts. Total removal is rarely the right answer on Hill Country ground, where cover is what keeps thin soil in place. Thinning the juniper out from around the hardwoods you want to keep gets you a usable, walkable property without stripping it.
Storms in this region tend to break trees rather than blow them over. The failure points are weak branch unions, over-extended limbs and old split stems, and they are all visible from the ground if you know what to look for. Reducing end weight on a heavy limb is a far smaller job than removing the tree it took down with it.
Every cut has a reason behind it. Removing deadwood is not the same as reducing a canopy, and topping a tree is not something we do at all because it produces weak regrowth that fails in the next storm. If a tree can be saved, we say so.
If a tree does not need to come down, we will tell you that at the estimate even though it is the smaller job. A removal that was not necessary is not a win for anyone, and we would rather have the trimming work every few years.
Helotes gets the same coverage as everywhere else we work: emergency tree removal overnight and on weekends, storm damage cleanup once the wind drops, and dead wood removal on trees that are still worth saving.
Call and ask, because it moves with the weather. What we will not do is book you in and then not show. If the honest answer is next week, that is the answer you get.
Price tracks difficulty rather than size alone. A tall tree in an open yard can come down faster and cheaper than a smaller one boxed in by a house, a fence and a power drop. That is why we look before quoting and why phone quotes are unreliable.
There is a right answer per species, and it is worth asking rather than assuming. Get it wrong on an oak and you can introduce a disease that kills the tree. Get it wrong on most other species and you have simply cost the tree some growth.
That is what the insurance is for, and you should ask to see it in writing rather than take a verbal answer. Tree work puts heavy weight over roofs and vehicles. The paperwork is the difference between an accident being an inconvenience and being your bill.

My husband and I couldn’t be happier with the makeover our trees received. We chose the perfect company, and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. The team was friendly, professional, and did an excellent job. We’d gladly return because of their outstanding service and the care they put into their work. Highly recommended.
Wonderfully professional and detail oriented. I definarly recommend 3 Monkeys Tree Service!
LOVED THEM! Super quick, friendly, and did what they promised. I almost wish I had more trees for them to fix. They trimmed the crazy one in the back, and took out one that was starting to grow under the driveway and break the concrete. Can't even tell it was there. 100% would use these guys again.
They were great! Came out the very next day. It was such a tall tree. Did an awesome job. They surpassed my expectations. I will absolutely be using them again.
3 monkeys tree service was amazing. They were on time and did a great job and when they left the area was completely clean up. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great company with wonderful employees.
On time. Very professional, large crew. Everything was trimmed and clean. Trees won’t need cleaning up for a while but i would hire this team again in a heartbeat.
